While attending Azusa Pacific University studying psychology, dancing is all that Derrek "Doc" Clarke could think about. After a chance meeting with singer and world renowned dancer/choreographer Toni Basil ("Hey Mickey") in a Hollywood night club, Azusa Pacific University was now in the past. Toni Basil was so impressed by Doc's grace, and unique style on the dance floor that she asked him to appear in her video "Street Life". From there she enlisted him to help her choreograph the R&B group Troop's video "Spread my wings". Doc continued to work with Troop and countless other entertainers including Young MC, Herb Alpert, Fatima Robinson, Tony Danza and more.
Doc has been featured in a number of commercials including those for Pepsi and Sega. His feet eventually led him to Japan where he lived and performed for three years. This eventually took a toll on the young dancer and he relocated back to Southern California. Wanting more of a challenge and possessing a thirst for how the music business worked, he began interning at Motown Records in the A&R dept. After becoming a full time employee at Motown, Doc began to help artists with their image and how they looked on videos, album covers, and live appearances. Doc has styled such artist as Queen Latifah, Michael Bivins, BBD, Lloyd, Sammie, Something for the People, Jesse Powell, and countless others. You can now find Doc managing artist, song writers, and producers.

K. Marie is a LA native who got her fashion itch at the age of 10 when the 90’s hit show ‘Clueless’ was on the scene. She was fascinated by the outfits of Cher and Dionne and tuned in every week to see what they were wearing next. It wasn’t until high school that she decided to share her passion with her peers and create the first Fashion Club at University High School.
Through overseeing her club, she gained the confidence to apply to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM); and, not only was she accepted into the Fashion Design program, she also won a $5,000 scholarship to the institution while she was still in the 11th grade.
While everyone was worrying about what they were going to write for their college personal statements. Marie was able to focus on her senior year with ease and graduate with honours knowing she was accepted into the school of her dreams.
Attending FIDM allowed K to learn the full aspect of fashion design from the ground up. She learned a lot and enjoyed the experience; however, she realized fashion design wasn’t what she was passionate about. Like many 17 year olds, she wasn’t sure about what she wanted to do anymore.
After 5 years of soul searching, she came across Fashion Public Relations and fell in love. Now she’s back at FIDM for Merchandise Marketing after completing her internship as a PR Intern/Stylist for Starling. She’s on a journey to the top and she wants to share her experiences and creative crushes with the world through blogging...one style at a time.

Monique Webber always dreamt of becoming a star. As a child she would entertain her family by performing Michael Jackson songs. Her first passion was music. Throughout her childhood and into her twenties she pursued a career as a singer. When she entered high school she became interested in fashion and decided she wanted to become a fashion model. Her thin 5’10 frame and freckled face landed her a contract with Elite Models at age 17. She soon learned that the modeling industry was harsh and unapologetic and she was dropped by Elite. Not allowing their opinions to dissuade her she sought representation with another agency and was picked up by LA Models. She was with LA Models for 5 years then left and joined the Q Model Management family which still represents her today. She’s worked on campaigns and ads for Prada, Adidas, Karl Kani, PacSun, Target, Robinson’s May, Foot Action, etc.
In 2001 she became the fit model for BCBGMAXAZRIA Group. Working very closely with the owners on a daily basis not only showed her the behind the scenes of creating a multimillion dollar fashion line but also opened the door for her into the world of public relations. Owner Lubov Azria offered her an amazing opportunity to do public relations for BCBGMAXAZRIA. She took the job and aided in dressing Hollywood’s elite in BCBGMAXAZRIA for 11 years. She forged strong relationships with stylists, managers, and publicists and has dressed Alist celebrities like Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Victoria Beckham, Jessica Biel, Sharon Stone, Fergie, etc. She was essential in re-launching Herve Leger and her celebrity placements can still be seen in weekly magazines today
Monique is now the Vice President of Entertainment Relations for a boutique public relations firm. She’s a single mother of two beautiful children and a health enthusiast. Her hectic schedule required balance which lead her to yoga. She fell in love with the practice and acquired her certification through Core Power Yoga. She teaches a fun, fast paced vinyasa flow yoga class called Hip Hop yoga. If that isn’t enough, she is also studying acting and will soon be on a television or big screen. She is definitely a renaissance woman: passionate, determined, inspirational and ever changing.

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.”
-Henry David Thoreau-
Growing up in a home echoing sounds of jazz at three years old she and her sister used to ask their father to “play the song with the man going ‘round and round” which was King Pleasure’s, “Moody’s Mood for Love”. In elementary school her Christmas lists consisted of record and cassette players, so that she could dismantle and reassemble them, or augment their audio output. By 9th Grade she was helping the campus DJ choose records to play during lunch. She was the expected DJ at most family and friend’s events and soon coordinated music for fashion shows, grand openings and wedding
She’s the “go to girl” for music trivia, and for having rare and the latest albums. She also sang and played keyboards for top 40, rock and jazz bands. She was one of the singers chosen in a special choir that was formed to record the back-up tracks for Super Bowl XXX’s half-time show starring Diana Ross and sang background at John Cougar Mellencamp’s private, invita-tional New Year’s Eve concert.
Her father was road manager for jazz fusion group, “Weather Report” and for Willie Bobo, Puer-to Rican singer, percussionist, songwriter, producer and her godfather both whose rehearsals in her home often turned into jam sessions that may have included Ndugu Chancellor, Freddy Hubbard, Bob Brae, Roy Ayres, and more. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communica-tions/Public Relations/Sociology, an Associate Arts degree in music composition and a Certifi-cate of Completion in Acoustic Audio Synthesis and Recording Engineering.
While interning at K-A-C-E Radio for the “Sunday Morning Live Show” she was mentored by host and radio personality, Isidra Person-Lynn where she produced her first on-air interview. She was an elementary and middle school language arts and science teacher and was the director of summer school where she implemented summer school and after school piano and music theo-ry programs at Compton’s Redeemer Christian Academy and UCLA’s University Elementary School. A car accident forced her into early retirement and became the catalyst which created a full-circle that returned her to her love of music and radio.
She was a team member of Stevie Wonder’s 102.3 Radio FREE KJLH’s “Front Page” a variety talk show, hosted and produced by Dominique DiPrima. She created and continues to produce a biographical segment entitled, “Radio Free Jazz” which she says is her mission to pay tribute to her father (still with her), to educate and to keep the names and the music of iconic jazz musi-cians and their music alive.
As the host for “Jazz at Midnight” at veteran, radio personality’s Kevin Nash’s station, acceleratedradio.net she extends her mission and encourages listeners to give gratitude first to God, and to remind them that “Happiness Is A Choice” .
